Do Duy Bao
I am Duy Bảo, a Grade 11 student at Newton Grammar School in Hanoi, where I study on a full scholarship. If you ask me why I chose chemistry, I will tell you that for me it is not a page in a textbook or a number on a transcript. It is a bridge that turns theory into solutions for real problems, such as climate change and waste
Science for Life

It was during a flood relief mission in Thai Binh that I witnessed the devastation and heard a local resident express a lack of motivation to rebuild, knowing that the following year's storms would simply sweep everything away again. That sense of helplessness among the people drove me to use science to understand the root causes of natural disasters and develop sustainable solutions, rather than relying solely on short-term aid.

Passion for science
I want to study Chemical Engineering at a university in the United States, where research in materials technology and climate science is among the most advanced, and keep developing sustainable carbon materials. In ten years, I hope to see circular carbon solutions used at industrial scale, helping Vietnam move toward Net Zero.
Research on the formulation of a melasma-treating cream using extract from pink lotus leaves.
Study on CO2 Adsorption Capacity of Activated Carbon Prepared from Spent Coffee Grounds
Project for the Future
Besides the lab, much of my time has gone into building places where other students can do science. Some began as small ideas in the school, others grew into national projects, but all of them answer the same question: how can we make science something students do, not only something they read?
